We Are Witnesses

I really like Lebron, and I’m glad he’s coming back to Ohio.  And while I think the Nike campaign is clever, this week we went over Acts 10 where Peter declares the original “We are witnesses” speech.  It is amazingly powerful.

39″We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree, 40but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. 41He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. 43All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

We Are WitnessesPeter witnessed the death of Christ.  He also witnessed the resurrection and even ate with Jesus after he arose.  He is to declare that Jesus is Lord of all and the judge of the living and the dead.  And then comes the wonderful promise – everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.

Our message is very much the same.  We can declare the transformative power of the gospel.  We used to be dead in trespasses and sins, but thanks be to the risen Christ, we have been changed.  We can face the judge because His righteousness has been applied to our account.  We have forgiveness if only we will trust Him.

Will you declare the gospel?  Can I get a witness?
